For consultants, contractors & building owners
Bring the mechanical scope together.
Winter AC provides mechanical building services for commercial installations, refurbishments and plant upgrades across Greater Wellington. Our HVAC, refrigeration, electrical and controls capability helps project teams address the connections between systems as well as the equipment itself.
How we can help
- Consultant-designed projects
- Design-and-build scopes
- Retrofits & plant upgrades
A practical mechanical contractor for your project
We work with consultants and main contractors to understand the design intent, programme and delivery requirements. Early scope review identifies missing information, access constraints and the interfaces that need a named owner.
For design-and-build work, we agree the design deliverables and the specialist engineering required. Design responsibility, producer statements and any peer review are defined for the project rather than assumed to be included.
An integrated service scope
- Heating and cooling plant, VRF/VRV, packaged units and fan coil systems.
- Chilled-water and heating-water pipework and associated plant connections.
- Mechanical ventilation, extraction, fans and ductwork.
- Commercial refrigeration installations and upgrades.
- Electrical for mechanical, controls and BMS-related works and interfaces.
- Commissioning, operating information and handover documents within the agreed scope.
Resolve the interfaces before installation
A clear proposal identifies responsibility for power supplies, isolators, control panels, BMS integration, fire interfaces, drainage, buildersā work and penetrations. We also identify dependencies such as structural, seismic and acoustic engineering where relevant.
Plant access, lifting, service clearances and replacement routes affect both the installation and the future cost of ownership. We review these alongside the programme, procurement requirements and available shutdown windows.
Refurbishment in an operating building
Existing drawings may not reflect what is on site. A site assessment helps establish what can be retained, what needs further investigation and which services affect occupied areas.
We discuss staging, temporary arrangements and testing with the building team. Changes are identified and agreed so that additional work, cost and programme effects remain visible.
Commissioning and handover are part of the scope
Define the required testing, witnessed checks, balancing, controls verification and records at tender stage. That gives everyone a shared understanding of what completion means.
Depending on the project, handover may include equipment information, operating and maintenance manuals, as-built records and the agreed compliance documentation. We can also discuss maintenance for the completed installation.
Your questions, answered
Can you work to our engineerās design?
Yes. Provide the drawings, specifications and schedules, including the required equipment, commissioning and documentation. We review buildability and interfaces with the project team while respecting the design intent.
Do you provide producer statements?
We can support project-specific producer statement requirements. The statement type, author, engineering responsibility, inspections and any external design or review fees must be agreed for the particular scope.
What do you need to price a mechanical package?
Send the latest drawings and specifications, equipment schedules, tender documents, programme, site information and closing date. Identify any nominated suppliers, design responsibilities and required exclusions or alternatives.
Can you meet public liability and vetting requirements?
We carry $20 million public liability insurance, can arrange site-specific insurance and have police-vetted personnel. Include the required cover, vetting, inductions and access conditions in the tender documents so the project arrangements can be confirmed.
Do you have experience on government contracts?
Yes. We have experience working on government contracts. Share the procurement documents, reporting requirements, site procedures and programme with the mechanical drawings and specifications so these are included in the scope review.
Tell us what you need
Letās discuss your building.
Send the drawings and specifications, project location, programme, tender closing date and any requirements for design, seismic, BMS or commissioning.
Based in Ngauranga, our team works across Wellington City, Lower Hutt, Upper Hutt, Porirua and KÄpiti. For Wairarapa and projects further afield, contact us so coverage and ongoing support can be agreed.
